There is a huge misconception that abortion during the third trimester is harmless, when in reality, getting an abortion in the third trimester is super gruesome and hard. Many doctors have done much research to prove that woman who have had an abortion could have a hinderance on their physical health, but more substantially on their mental health. Women who have an abortion struggle to have the best quality of life. If women today were informed that they could possibly endure a painful emotional disorder called Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome after going through the process of having an abortion, woman will want to give birth instead of aborting the baby.
Opening 2
Pregnant women today face extremely challenging decisions, especially when their pregnancy is unexpected. After finding out that they are pregnant, the most difficult decision out of many is to have an abortion or not. It is a difficult decision because some women know the effect it can have on them physically and mentally. Woman need to be informed about the mental/physical health dangers of abortions so that after learning about the effects, the decision of not having an abortion wouldn’t be so difficult.
0:00-0:01: The beginning of the ad shows what seems to be, based on the masculine voice, a man entering the hallway of an empty building. What we can see so far are a few chairs, a counter, a refrigerator, a lamp, and a sofa. There’s a box on the bottom left-hand corner with the text “cdrone714” and says “Alright!” next to it. In addition, there’s a moving map that displays a simple blueprint of what the inside of this building looks like and where this person is located in this building. We can assume that this is the man’s point of view and he is playing a video game with his friends. The text on that box might be his username and he is currently letting his friends know with enthusiasm that he is in a random house.
0:02-0:04: The man’s gaze shifts from side to side as he approaches the two rooms in the house. He has passed the kitchen and is currently in the room where the sofa is located. The room has a small bookshelf, another chair with a footstool, and three paintings. The textbox now shows more of this person’s conversation with his friends where this man is confirming that he’s in the house and another username, “jnixc”, asks about his surroundings. With nothing out of the ordinary insight, the man’s response was, “nothing yet.” Based on the feminine voice, this “jnixc” is a female who is playing this game with this man. We can assume they are probably playing a video game that involves stealth, based on how empty the house is, and their objective is to find something in this house without getting caught.
0:05-0:07: The man’s gaze shifts downwards to the sofa and small table that’s in front of him. There’s a blanket sitting on the sofa and on the table, there’s an Xbox controller, some notebooks, and a small stack of magazines. We can assume that this house is the home of a family of three or four because that Xbox and notebooks might belong to the kids’ and those magazines are for their mother and/or father. However, before it is assumed that the house is fully empty, the man hears a vibration and lets his friend know that he has heard something. He shifts his gaze to the stairs that leads to the second floor of the house. We can assume that he has heard the vibration of someone’s phone in the house. Therefore, there’s a possibility that there are people in the house.
0:08-0:09: The man is letting his friend know that he is heading upstairs and rushes to the top of the second floor. The hallway of the second floor appears to be dark, but you are able to see a couple of paintings or pictures on the wall. The girl responses back to the man, letting him know that she’s nearby the house. With the newfound evidence that there are people in this house, these people are probably hiding from them.
0:10-0:11: The man rushes into an empty room with a small table. It turns out that he has entered one of the bedrooms in the house, but there’s still no sight of this family or anyone that possibly lives in this house.
0:12-014: There is the sound of a beating heart and it is starting to beat faster as the man looks inside a drawer in the bedroom. The drawer contains some clothes and a package of bullets, but the man claims that whatever he is looking for is “not here.” We are unsure as to what this man is looking for, but we at least know that his objective is to find something in this house. However, with the increased heart rate in the background, we can assume that he is nervous about something and that the gravity of this mission is severe.
0:15-0:17: The man’s gaze shifts upward, away from the drawer as his beating heart continues to rapidly beat at a fast rate. He exclaims to his friend that the gun isn’t in the drawer and he hastily exits the bedroom. Now that we know that this man’s gun is gone, we can assume that this man is in danger and desperate to find something to defend himself in his house. In fact, based on the tone of both the man and woman’s voice and the beating heart in the background, the seriousness of this scene can make us assume that he might not actually be in a video game.
0:18-0:22: The man rushes through the second-floor hallway and shifts his gaze in multiple directions. His heart continues to beat fast as he is starting to have a shortness of breathing. He begins to approach a door that’s at the very end of the hallway and yells out for a boy named, Cameron. Out of fear, he starts to aggressively bang on the door, continues to yell out this boy’s name, and desperately asks if he’s in the room on the other side. Now we know that this man wasn’t the one in danger, but it was possibly his other friend or son that was. With the gun gone, the door locked, and the phone left on silent, we can assume that this Cameron person took the gun and purposefully locked the door to commit suicide when the man and woman weren’t home.
0:23-0:30: The final seconds of the ad ends with a melancholic atmosphere when the scene backs out. The man continues to bang on the door and sobs for Cameron. The words “with gun suicide, there is no extra life” appear on the black screen with the addition of some advice on how to store your gun safely. It’s now clear that the ad was on gun suicide and that people must be cautious with possessing a gun; however, with the occurrences of the boy, we can assume that Cameron was probably depressed. All in all, the ad was most likely suggesting to be mindful of any signs of depression and to be cautious as to where you hide your gun because you may never know if someone may use to commit suicide.
Modern day schools should be required to have career focused courses and ditch the uninteresting and insignificant general education format. Putting students into the same courses as every other student proves to be completely inferior to letting students partake in courses that pique their interest and prepare them for college and beyond. Schools that adopt these career-driven courses show much more promising results than their counterparts as students are more engaged, more interested, and much more willing to learn. These students are the future of our world and an interesting and useful education is needed for them to stay engaged and change the world for the better.
Opening 2:
Early college options should be available to any students willing to take up the offer if given. Students reaching their last final years of high school typically are doing either one of two things, going into a job suited for them or getting ready for college, so, at most schools, why is it not available for students to have the option to get a head start on the latter? College is a pivotal point in the lives of children as they are growing up to become essential pieces in the working world and to evolve our way of life, but this won’t even matter if students feel too stressed over work and drop out. Early college high school options are the perfect fit for any students where they are given a college environment, may be a community college campus, to take courses at these higher college levels and get a firm grasp on what their college experience will be like with even more perks and benefits down the line.
0:01-0:03 You hear a bang sound while the camera zooms in on the half eating dish with a glass of milk next to it, then it cuts to a man in a suit looking up at someone or something.
0:04-0:08 The man looks down and seems a little aggravated; you hear another stomp noise. He gets started a little and looks up.
0:09-0:15 He blinks and continues to look up with a worried face and starts breathing a little heavy and shouts, “I love you.”
0:16-0:23 “Never Stop Being A Dad” pops up on the screen. You hear a ding sound, and it’s the dad’s phone. He picks it up, and a message appears saying “U2.”
0:24-0:37 The father smiles and puts his phone back on the table. The word “Dadication” pops up on the screen when he’s taking a bite of his food, and then the video freezes on him till it’s over.
Opening 1: Many lives can be saved every year from just one simple roadway regulation, that is to mandate all vehicles be the same size. This idea mainly comes from the extensively researched topic of crash compatibility. Crash compatibility can simply be described as the ability of a car to protect both its own occupants and partner car’s occupants in a car-to-car collision. From the research conducted on the topic, there is an overwhelming amount of evidence revealing the fact that larger cars such as SUVs and trucks, have terrible crash compatibility with smaller cars due to their differences in size and weight. That’s why if all cars were mandated to be the same size, there would be less fatalities from car accidents due to better crash compatibility on roadways.
Opening 2: Construction of dedicated roadways for different sized vehicles would greatly increase the survival rate of car-to-car collisions. While driving a Toyota Prius, which would you rather occur, a head on collision with a two and a half ton pickup truck or a vehicle more than half that weight and size? Any normal person wouldn’t want either scenario to occur, but most people would make the logical choice of a collision with a car around equal size and weight of your own. Most people know this to be the better choice simply based of high school physics knowledge that you would have a lot better chances of surviving a crash with a small car compared to a big one. For that simple reasoning based on high school level knowledge, it should be clear that constructing dedicated roadways for different sized vehicles will greatly decrease the fatality rate of accidents.
“Is PTSD contagious ?” this itself is a analogy claim when asked if it is contagious
“Brannan Vines has never been to war. But she’s got warrior skills: Hyperawareness, hypervigilance, adrenaline-sharp quick scamming for danger, fur friggers. ” Both analogy claim due to the comparing made and also evaluative claim due to judgement of characteristics.
“Like Brannan’s symptoms. Hypervigilance sounds Innocuous, but is in fact exhausting distressing, a conditioned response to life-threatening situations.” Factual claim
“Imagine your nervous system spiting, readying you as you feel your way along walls the sensitivity of your hearing, the tautness in your muscles, the alertness shouting around inside your skull- Categorical claim
“Brannan is 32 now, but in her portraits with the big white dress and lacy veil she’s not even old enough to drink- Analogy claim
“Disorder made its debut in psychiatry’s Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental orders, uniting a flood Vietnam vets suffering persistent psych issues with traumatized civilians previously assigned labels like “accident neurosis” and “post-rape syndrome” onto the same page of the DSM-111 – factual claim
“She’s certainly looks like a normal kid when she comes down from her room dressed for tap class. In a black leopard pink tights, and shiny black tap shoes, she looks sweet as a pie. -Analogy and evaluate claim
“By the point, you might be wondering, and possibly feeling guilty about wondering Brannan doesn’t just get a divorce.” -ethical and moral claim
0:00-0:01- In this image we see a young man at the bar. He appears to be with a group of people. We take a look at the table and it seems to be that there are alcoholic beverages on the table. This indicates that they have been drinking.
0:01-0:02– The man gets up from the table and he puts his jacket on. He appears to be getting ready to leave. He then reaches on to the table to grab his cell phone and keys. He then turns away to start walking away
0:03-0:09- The man makes a quick turn back to the table where he grabs a glass of water and chugs the water. This indicates that he was attempting to sober up so he could drive home. Once he is finished drinking the water he puts the glass down on the table and then his phone buzzes in his pocket. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out his phone were he reads a text from his sober self. In the text we can see that it says ” Ehem we both know what you’re doing”.
0:10-0:12- He smiles at his cell phone then puts it back into his pockets. He turns to the bar where he picks up another glass of water and begins chugging it. Once he finishes the water his phone rings again. He reaches in and pulls his phone out with another text from his sober self saying ” water isn’t some magic cure man”. Now we can conclude that he was indeed trying to chug water so he could try and sober up and drive home.
0:13-0:24– The man turns and walks quickly into the restroom. He looks at him self in the mirror. He reaches down and turns the cold water on and begins to splash water onto his face. After he finishes putting water onto his face he looks up from the sink and looks back at himself in the mirror. The phone laying on the sink buzzes, he looks down to see another text from his sober self saying “So, you calling the ride or should I?” He looks down at the phone and then looks back in the mirror and realizes he should just call for a ride. The video ends off with a voice saying ” if you need to do something to feel okay to drive then your not okay to drive.” this whole videos was showing signs of someone attempting to drink and drive and it should you what you should do if you drank and you need to call a ride.
In a world shifting to driverless cars do you trust your car to keep you safe? We all want to be able to get in a car and have it drive and you just sit there and relax, but do you really trust a computer or do you trust your self to drive your car better. The countless years put in to making these cars and all of the research done to make them perfect but can a computer determine what is moral in a situation? A autonomous car is designed to do what it has to do to keep the most people safe.
Opening 2-
Autonomous cars will soon be controlling the road will you let a computer drive you? It is hard getting in a car and letting someone else drive you, you put all your faith in them to keep you safe. Now it will soon become that you will be getting in a car and there will be no one there just the computer driving you. There are many glitches with computers what is stopping these cars from getting a glitch and driving off the road? We put our lives in the hands of a computer its not much different from todays world where we live in our technology so it might not be hard for others to trust the computer driving.
Although many people believe that increasing the speed limit on major United States highways would increase crash rates, that is actually not the case. Increasing the speed limit could actually lead to some positive effects. Some of these positive effects include shorter commute times and, surprisingly, lower crash rates. To fully understand the idea of how increasing speed limits would help, it is important to be knowledgeable on the different types of roads and which types of roads would be reasonable to increase the speed limit on.
Opening 2: GPS limiting
Introducing new technology such as GPS speed limiting could substantially decrease the number of speed related crashes. As many people drive long commutes home everyday, it is important to keep them driving at safe speeds. As people try to get home as quickly as possible, they sometimes forget about speed limits or more commonly ignore them. Disobeying the speed limit puts the driver and all others around them in danger, but implementing speed limiting technology could help decrease this danger.
0:01 There is a person holding a scrapbook. There is a person wearing a blouse like shirt and the visible hand appears to be feminine so it is most likely a woman. She appears to be sitting on a couch with a decorative pillow next to her. We can only see a small part of her upper body. She is holding what appears to be a scrapbook with the cover is open to the first page. There are a couple of pictures but they are not clearly visible. The pages appear well worn so the book is probably older.
0:02 The view is now zoomed out. The woman is sitting on a gray couch alone. She is blonde and looks to be in her 50s or 60s. She appears to be in a home, there is a fireplace behind her and a decorative pot. The room is well lit from windows to the side only slightly in view. There is an ottoman with a glass of what seems to be water so she is probably staying on the couch for a good amount of time. There are also what looks like two other scrapbooks on ottoman as well, which it is likely she also will look through if she has not already. The scrapbook she is holding has more pages turned than before so some time has passed. She is looking down at the scrap book but her expression cannot be read well from this far away.
0:03 Everything is the same except she has moved her left hand in the direction of the book. She is possibly going to touch a picture, or maybe point to one, or she may be going to turn the page. Her expression did not change much but she seems to be content with whatever she is looking at.
0:04 It is now close up on one picture of the scrapbook. There are the edges of two other pictures on either side. One of the edges seems to be the side of a toilet. The main picture is of a baby, maybe young toddler, sitting in the corner of a couch. The couch is plaid and not the same one as the woman is sitting on. There is a house plant next to the couch. The child is bundled in a jacket with the hood up and too large of sunglasses on. The jacket is blue so it is hard to tell if it is a little boy or girl. It is likely this was taken during a colder season. The baby is making no expression so they are probably not old enough to know how to smile for a picture. This could be the woman when she was a baby, or a sibling, or one of her children, or maybe just another relative or friend.
0:05-0:06 Now it’s a different picture in the book. It is a little boy, probably 3 to 5, and he is smiling but not looking at the camera. It’s possible this is the same kid from the picture of the baby. He has dark hair and his face seems to have some Asian features. There is a mountain in the background. He is on a boat on what looks like a large lake. He is holding the steering wheel, but it can be assumed this was for photo purposes as he is far too young to actually be driving. He is wearing a life jacket. He also has a red lollipop in his hands, which could possibly have been to calm him if he was scared to be on the boat, or maybe a bribe to stand there and smile for the picture. Since he is so young it is likely he was on the boat with family so a parent or grandparent probably took the picture. This may be the woman’s son, brother, or any of the other options previously listed.
0:07-0:08 A different picture again. It appears to be the same boy with the Asian features but a few years older, around 8-10. He is standing next to a little white blonde girl who is younger, around 4-6. This blonde girl could be the older woman, or another relative or friend. The boy is wearing a hat with the word “FINALS” visible, so it could be for a sports team or event. They are both smiling and looking at the camera. The boy is crouched down to be level with the girl but they aren’t touching. The little girl has her wrists crossed in a non-casual way so she must have been told to stand still for the picture. In the background there is some red that may be a bow you would see at Christmas time, but it’s hard to tell because it is blurry. There is also a table in the background with a red and white tablecloth, which also suggest it is around Christmas time. The kids are both in short sleeves though, so it’s possible it’s not a cold season. What is on the table is hidden by the bottom edge of another picture in the scrapbook. It looks like there may be pictures or maybe greeting cards hanging in the background so this seems to be a home environment.
0:09 It is now a close up of the woman’s face from the beginning. She seems to be sitting on the couch still with the fireplace in the background. She is looking down so she is probably still looking at the scrapbook as well and likely the pictures we were just shown. The corners of her mouth appear to be turned up in a slight smile and her and her eyes are scrunched in a way that would also suggest she is smiling. She looks happy so the people in the pictures are likely people she cares about and the pictures themselves are likely fond memories.
0:10-0:11 There is now a classroom shown. There are three visible rows of chairs that are curved in a semi-circle that are viewed from the side. Some chairs are cushioned, others are just metal or plastic. There is a raised music stand facing the chairs so this is probably a music room and that is probably where the teacher stands. There are no people in the classroom. There is a whiteboard and filing cabinets and other cabinets and carts used to push supplies in schools. There are some posters but none can be read from this distance. It is daytime because there is light coming in from a large window. There are also doors in the far corner with an exit sign and clock above that light is shining through. There are a couple more music stands in the back of the room. There are no visible instruments so it’s possible this is a choir room rather than an instrumental ensemble.
0:12 We can see the other side of the room because the angle has changed. The view is now the front of the chairs. There is another filing cabinet, another whiteboard, another window, and more posters. There is still no one in the room. The only light is from the windows still so school is not in session or just no one has this class right now.
0:13 The view is now of a different room. All of the chairs are the same and are the plastic ones from the other room, but there is a lot more. They are arranged in rows along the back and both sides. There is a table in the middle but more towards the front of the room. There are large, colorful posters along the back that spell out choir. There are some other posters that resemble the initial room but they can’t be read. There is a clock. The only lighting comes from the large windows on one side and the few smaller windows along the back. The lighting suggests it’s the same time of day as in the other picture. There are no people. All the way to the left there seems to be the side of a piano and a music stand.
0:14-0:15 There is the top half of a building with a red awning and a large clock on the it. There are five yellow stars along the bottom of the awning. There is an American flag at the top of a flagpole. There is a telephone pole with the telephone lines running in front of the flag but behind the building. There is a large, raised circle sign that says, “One Man Band Diner” and as the picture of a man marching with a drum and trombone and is wearing a marching band uniform. There are some trees in the picture. There is a stop light just below the sign in the background. It is light out so it is daytime, but there is no visible sun so maybe late afternoon.
0:16 Now we see the inside of the diner. There are booths that are standard to a diner and big windows all along the walls. There are menus next to the windows and some decorative flowers. The light coming in from the windows suggests its daytime. Everyone is dressed casually. Closest to the camera and to the left is a man but you can only see half of his face so he may not be important or the main focus. He is wearing a casual plaid shirt and has sunglasses hooked to the collar. In the booth behind him facing the camera is a blonde, older woman. This is the same woman as in the beginning. She is dressed different so this is probably a different day. Her hair is up, she’s wearing gold earring, and she’s wearing a plaid red shirt. Her hands are folding up by her face and she is looking out the window, which means she may be waiting for someone since she is currently alone. There is a shadow on the table form either her hands or something on the table out of our view, which would be blocked by the booth the man is sitting in. The booth behind her is empty, but the corner booth is occupied by two people. One is a woman and the other a man. They are seated facing each other. They both seem to have grayish hair so they are likely older, and the woman’s face can be seen with a smile. They must be having a happy conversation, or maybe she’s just happy to be there.
0:17-0:18 The frame is now up-close on the blonde woman’s face. She is still looking in the direction of the window. The corners of her mouth are now turned down. She appears to be distressed or concerned. Maybe she sees something outside the window that is unsettling. Or maybe she’s nervous about whoever she is waiting for. The background is blurred and only booths and windows are visible. The couple behind her either left or is hidden by her head.
0:19 The view is of the woman’s hands, which can be concluded because the plaid red sleeves are blurry but visible. The hands are what’s in focus and are viewed from the opposite direction that her face was being looked at. She is fiddling her thumbs, meaning she is probably nervous about whatever she is anticipating or thinking about.
0:20-0:22 The back of the woman’s head and plaid red shirt is blurry and takes up a little less than half the screen. The focus is on a man sitting down across from her. He is wearing a button up shirt, but the top few buttons are undone so he still looks casual. He has a large smile on his face. He has dark hair and Asian features, meaning he is likely the boy from the scrapbook photos. He is looking at the woman as he sits down. They must have a long history, potentially the mother-son relationship suggested earlier since she was looking at his youth pictures in what is assumed to be her home in a scrapbook.
0:23 Everything is the same except he is now fully seated and looking down towards the table.
0:24 We now look at the table where the two individuals are holding hands, distinguished by the red plaid shirt. There is a coffee mug to the right of the woman. She is or was drinking hot tea because there is a tea bag string hanging over the side. She was waiting for him long enough to order and receive her tea. Both their hands are holding the one across from itself. Their fingertips are wrapped around each other from the side.
0:25 the woman is viewed straight on from the neck up. She is looking forward, presumably at the man. She is now smiling as well, but this time with her teeth showing. We can see that the older man is still behind her in the corner booth in the blurry background.
0:26-0:27 The table with the blonde woman and Asian man is viewed from a side, faraway angle now across the aisle. There is a new man all the way to the left seated at a booth and looking down at a partially visible menu, but he is out of focus and only half in frame. Through the window we can see the bottom of the circular sign from earlier confirming they are in the “One Man Band Dine.” The woman is still smiling but the man’s face can’t be seen. They are still embracing each other’s hands. There are words on the screen over the woman and man that say, “In 30 states it’s legal to fire, evict, or deny service to LGBT people.” One of these people must be from the LGBT community. Since the classroom was shown earlier, we can assume someone was fired because they are LGBT. It could be the woman because she was looking distressed but then was comforted by the man. Or it could be the man and she was worried for him but was comforted when she saw he was okay and happy.
0:28-0:30 It is a grey screen with the words “Get the facts at Beyond I Do.org” in the center. The “Beyond I Do.org” is in bolder font and the “Beyond I Do” is underlines in yellow. In the bottom right there is a symbol and it says “GillFoundation” and to the bottom right there is a symbol that says, “ad council.”
