There is an african american male who seems to be looking away. It seems like he is looking at a window. If so, then we can tell that there is still light outside. It’s possible that the man is probably staring at something outside. Maybe something is going on. The man looks down at his phone. He has an iphone but it’s hard to identify what type of iphone it is. The phone is currently open on the instagram app. It appears to be that the man is viewing a post of him and somebody else. They are both holding diplomas in their hands. The instagram post didn’t get that much attention as it only has 37 likes. The man is wearing jewelry on his left hand and he seems to have some writing on his right hand. He may have a tattoo.

The video then goes through a series of photos. Each photo has the man and some other person in it. We see that one of the photos has a female. The female looks young so it’s probably the man’s relative or someone whom he has a relationship with judging by the smiles they are both putting on. Their relationship seems to be genuine. We then see more photos of the girl again. It’s obvious that this girl plays a role in this man’s life. Otherwise, we wouldn’t see multiple pictures of her.

The man is now smiling. He is happy about something. We now see a better image of the man. He looks like he’s in his late 20s or early 30s. The man has been to the gym before. He looks to be in shape. The screen seems to be in an instagram post template with the words “Finally getting my HS diploma!” Now we know that the man did not receive his high school diploma during high school. I’m unsure of the reason why. Maybe he dropped out of high school or maybe he never went to high school. It’s clear that he made the effort to complete his education. By the way that the man is smiling, this is a very big deal to him.

It turns out that the girl in the pictures is the man’s daughter. We see a picture of her going down the playground slide in reverse. She’s looking at the camera. Judging by the background of the picture, it is clear that they are outside. The weather seems to be very warm as the daughter is wearing a short sleeves shirt. Judging by the positioning of the daughter’s shadow, it is probably close to afternoon.

The man had his hands rubbing on his face and his eyes had a gleam in them. The man is probably emotional from achieving this accomplishment in his life. Receiving a high school diploma is a big milestone as high school is not all that easy. The man seems to be in a quiet room or a study room where he is seen to be doing some school work. The man is probably taking some notes since he is writing inside of a notebook. The time of day in the video had changed a few times. The man has probably been studying and taking notes for a while. He seems to be very studious.

The man is now seen with his son. His son looks young. He is probably between ages 6 and 12. The man looks like he is helping his son out with some work, or the son probably joined his father during his time of studying. There is a cat in the background, so it’s safe to assume that this man’s household welcomes pets. We see that the background has also changed. They are in the living room. The man is now carrying his son. They seem to be playing around or the father is escorting his son out of the area. It’s hard to tell since the camera is zoomed in. There is a picture of the man and his daughter but it’s an old picture. The man’s beard isn’t there anymore. They are both pointing at the camera. The man probably lives in the suburbs judging by the way that neighborhood looks. It seems like it’s a peaceful area to live in.

The man is seen again with his child. Now it is clear to assume that the man cares about his children very much. Maybe he went back to get his high school diploma for the sake of his children. Probably the man didn’t want his kids growing to find out that their father never completed high school. The man wants to set a good example for his children. He wants them to complete their education as well. Now we see that the father is on his phone going instagram stories. We see an ad on the plone with the link “FinishYourDiploma.org.” The man probably used it to help go back to school and achieve his high school diploma.

The reason for the man dropping out of school is still unknown. Maybe he dropped out because he had children to take care of. The father going back to complete his education just shows that he won’t let anything stop him to achieve his goals. Obstacles will come along the way, but it’s about how people handle them. Will they overcome it? Or will they succumb to defeat at the hands of the obstacle?

Two children, both of which look no older than 12 are standing facing the watcher staring off at the same thing off screen. Both hold bored glazed over stares at what ever they are looking at. They are outside in someone’s front yard, most likely theirs. A little stone walkway can be seen between them in the background leading up to the house. The front yard is primarily empty except for them and a red wagon sticking half way out of frame in the background. It appears to be sunny based on the sun glowing off the trees behind them, but they are in the shade due to cover from the blue house. The front of the house is fronted by several bushes which appear tall enough to reach at least half way up the windows. The child ,a girl, on the left is holding a basket ball while chewing on pink bubble gum. She’s wearing red basketball jersey with a rainbow shirt poking out from underneath it and white shorts. She has short poufy hair that appears to be held back by a hair band. As they are still watching she attempts several times to blow a bubble and succeeds on the last attempt. Blowing a decent sized bubble before it popped. As she chews she appears to be more annoyed than bored with her face giving off a slight frown. The child on her left, likely her brother, leans on the handle bar of a sliver bike. He’s wearing a simple blue T-shirt with grey shorts. While his sister appears to be getting annoyed at whatever is happening off screen, he simply appears bored with an expressionless look to his face. As if he is use to seeing whatever is occurring off screen.

I believe the director showed us these images because he wanted to established that whatever these kids are looking at, they are likely use to either seeing it or hearing it, so when it happens (i.e in the vid) they kids are use to it, therefore why they appear bored for the most part.

0.06-0.14

The camera cuts to the side showing us the kids were watching their parents arguing on the drive way of the house. The kids are to the left of both of parents, closet to the front yard with the mother in the middle of the kids and what is assumed to be her husband. She’s wearing a flannelled shirt with jeans. The Mother stands in front of the garage of their house, going back and fourth with a her husband, who is on top of a black stepping stool in their drive way right next to a basketball hoop, the kind that has the leveler in the back so you can adjust the height on it. He’s wearing a plaid shirt and khakis. Behind them all is the garage. Its clearly attached to the house with its door open and a sliver car parked inside it. On both sides of the car are bikes parked. One black, the other light blue. The adults are arguing but its clear to tell that its not anything bad or serious. Their is no visible anger on either parents face. In fact the father seems almost happy, with a small smile on his face protruding from beard. The husband repeatedly looks back and forth between his wife and the hoop, pointing at it, indicating to the viewer that the basketball hoop in the center of the argument. During this we see both kids with the same bored look, both of them watching the father as he still argues with their mom. With a very relaxed body posture, the dad turns and to the rim and grabs it giving it a small tug. The entire hoop suddenly drops several inches resulting in the backboard to fall off and tumble to the ground. It doesn’t strike anyone or shatter but rather almost tumbles and lands facing up on the ground. The mother and farther eyes widen with shock and merely stand there as the hoop comes down. The mom with her hands by her side looks at the hop with disappointment while the dad with his hands on his hips proceeds to glance back and fourth between the basketball post and the backboard laying on the ground, its clear that they didn’t expect that to happen and the father looks somewhat embarrassed by it, deliberately looking away from his wife. While his hands are on his hips you can see a small wrench in his left hand, which couldn’t be seen before while he was pointing at the hoop. This makes it clear to the audience that the father was either setting up the hoop or fixing it, and he and his wife wear likely arguing about if he did it right or not. The daughter in a moment of surprise quickly back steps even though the back board was nowhere near to hitting her. She stares at the rim with concern, possibly out of fear that the backboard broke. While the brother, still leaning on his bike, cracks a smile as it falls to the ground watching it drop only to then look back at his father. The time from when it falls to when it lays on the ground all four family members are silent.

I believe the director showed us this in order to create the family dynamic, or at least how we are suppose to perceive it. How these little arguments between the parents are common(due to the bored expression of the childern). I also think they are perhaps trying to show the father attempt to be a builder (in setting up the hoop) but he just lacks that initiative, and it could be a reoccurring trend based off how the son began to chuckle as soon as it happened, as if he knew what to expect .

0.15-0.20

The camera quickly cuts to the daughter as she turns and faces the camera. She proceeds to break the fourth wall by speaking directly to the viewer. As she speaks she keeps her head slightly tilted to the left. The house now blurred in the background and the camera focused on her. She has a somewhat concerned look on her face as she talks, her eyebrows giving a slight squint. The headband she is wearing is easier to see now. Its red. The chewing gum is also no longer in her mouth. Her teeth are snow white and towards the end of this portion of the clip she gives one look off camera, looking downward, she was likely looking at the back board still lying on the ground.

I believe the director showed this in order for the girl to evaluate on the situation that just unfolded.

0.20-0.26

The screen cuts to a government website link with several car seats and seatbelts on top of the logo.

I now believe they put this scene in to acknowledge the message the girl was giving in the section prior to this one. Meaning her conversation was possibly referencing seat belts for both adults and children.

0.27-0.30

The camera cuts back to the girl who is still talking directly to the camera. The camera then cuts back out showing all four family members. The mom proceeds to walk to the front door of the house rubbing her wrists while the dad, still on the stepping stool, looks down at the backboard in disappointment, hands still on his hips, he lets out a sigh. The kids no longer looking at the backboard now stare back up at their dad. The daughter is still holding the basketball while the son is leaning of his bike rhythmically tapping on the handle bar.

I believe they put this scene in to establish what I said before about them expecting this, especially since the mom walked away, not angrily, but rather being done with the situation.

0:01

There are three former presidents, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush standing in a triangle shape: one on the top middle, 2 on the bottom left and right in a white theater lined with American Flags and many benches on a slightly cloudy but sunny day. Behind the three presidents is an all white theatre with rows of benches lined like church pews. All three are wearing jackets suggesting they are outside in the cold shooting this ad.

In the background, there is a person walking by over Clinton’s left shoulder who is most likely not supposed to be there as anybody watching this ad will divert their attention to the man in the background rather than the three speakers as the focus of the video.

0:02

Close up on Bill Clinton addressing the public. In the background there are more American Flags hanging from individual rafters between stone white pillars. There is also a shot of President Bush looking away from camera focusing on something else as well as President Clinton seemingly doing the same.

President Bush behind Clinton seems to be slightly smiling which is not helpful to the targeted tone of the video which would be serious and intense. In the background, the flags continue to waive in the rafters between pillars.

0:04

Camera goes back out wide into the shot of the three former presidents all standing six feet apart in the glowing white theater lined with American Flags and a stage in the background. The man previously seen in the background at 0:01 is no longer there which places total emphasis on the three presidents.

George Bush is swaying back and forth almost as if suggesting he wants to get this over with. Does not help the overall feel of the topic being very important and the message being urgent.

0:06

Close up on Barack Obama wearing a black trench coat over his black suit. The background consists of a blurred vision of the surrounding area outside the theater being trees as well as little glimpses of a few of the flags and 6 pillars behind him.

Obama’s facial expression is stone cold which helps the overall theme of the video being very serious and important.

0:07

Camera pans back out to the shot of the three former presidents in their triangle. There is motion of the three big flags behind the center of the stage suggesting there is a breeze blowing outside as they speak. There is also more of a shadow cover along the benches suggesting the day has passed a bit more from the start.

0:09

Close up on George Bush addressing the public looking away from the close up camera. Background consists of three of the white stone pillars and many tree branches from the surround wooded area. The pillars as well as President Bush are more shaded than in previous shots as the sun either goes down further or disappears behind a cloud.

There are trees surrounding the theater suggesting this building is located in the wilderness perhaps outside of the nations capital as there are three former presidents in the same place.

0:10

Camera pans back out to the shot of the three presidents. Many of the flags are now whipping in the wind suggesting a very windy day. Theater is more shaded than in previous shots as the clouds also grow bigger in the sky above the three former presidents offering more of a serious feel to the ad.

Obama and Clinton have smiles on their faces perhaps suggesting that these vaccines are good, however it does not exactly fit the theme of the video being important and serious.

0:15

Close up on Bill Clinton, same as his previous close up, however the flags have gotten shorter due to the wind wrapping them up more. President Bush remains in the background looking away from the close up camera with a prestigious smile on his face suggesting happiness in the search for a potential solution to the problem at hand.

Bush is still smiling in the background of Clinton, not ideal for overall feel and tone of the ad.

0:17

Camera pans back out to the shot of the three presidents in the white theater. Flags continue to whip in the wind behind them as the theater becomes increasingly more shaded as the day and clouds continue to pass.

0:19

Close up on George Bush addressing the public cam, not the close up cam. View of the wooded area surrounding the theater becomes increasing more clear as well as the three white pillars revealed in the shot.

0:20

Shot quickly alternates to Barack Obama with a passionate and determined look on his face as if trying to convince someone to do something. The bright sunshine reappears behind him and shines on the wooded area and pillars behind him. The new appearance of sunshine could almost represent the dawn of a new day.

0:25

Camera one again pans back out to the three former presidents in their 6 feet apart triangle with Bush at the head. Flags continue to whip in their rafters and the wind. Bottom half of the theater and pillars is engulfed in sunlight whereas the top of the theater is still covered with a shadow. The three flags behind the center of the stage are now calm and straight again.

0:27 – 0:30

Screen fades to an all black background with a drawing of a band-aid in all white with the words “It’s up to you COVID-19 vaccination” written in all caps inside the band-aid. Below the illustration and writing of the band-aid there is a link to the site GetVaccineAnswers.org for people to get the latest information about COVID-19 vaccines telling. This last shot serves as a call to action for the general American public to act and get their vaccines and do their part to stop the spread and help eliminate the threat of COVID.

(0:00-0:02)The video begins with a close up shot of an old woman’s face. Her facial expression seems almost disapproving or sad. The background is blurred

(0:02-0:03)There is a picture of a woman and what is presumably her children. There is a dark brown wooden wall in the background. She is wearing glasses and is holding the two kids on her lap on a couch. One of the children is a girl with a small floral, white, dress. The other child is a boy and his body is blocked by a radio, so it isn’t visible. There is a blurry picture of half of a baby’s face in the bottom right corner of the shot in a separate picture frame. There is a flower on the table to the left of the center picture frame.

(0:04-0:05)The camera is peeking around the corner into the old woman’s kitchen. You can see one of her cabinets in the top right corner of the shot, with some fine china on the shelf of it. She has a flying dove hanging from the wall to the right of her. She is looking out her window as if she was looking for or waiting for someone. She has her hand on the wall out of shot as she is doing this.

(0:06-0:08)There is a drawing on the old woman’s fridge that reads “We miss you Grandma.” This reveals that she is a grandmother. There is a photograph taped to the top and bottom left corners of the drawing. They are pictures of her grandchildren. One being a girl, and one being a boy. They resemble the kids in the beginning of the video. There is a heart drawn on the right of the drawing, and under it there are two children drawn wearing masks. It seems that the kids mailed this drawing with the photos to their grandmother and she hung it up on the fridge. On the other side of the fridge, there is a photograph of the children hanging from a bar on the playground.

(0:08-0:11)The grandmother is now holding a pencil, sitting at a table in her kitchen. She turns her head towards the camera and starts to smile. The shot cuts to her open front door, with the woman and children in the photographs standing in the door frame. The little girl is standing in the front, while the woman holds the boy. The three of them are smiling and looking into the house. The woman is holding her purse in her free arm, and has a blue jacket on.

(0:11-0:17)The woman is now at the door, and she smiles at the little girl before she runs into her grandmother’s arms. The little boy runs in after her and they both leap into their grandmother’s arms. With the boy on the left and the girl on the right, the grandmother can be seen smothered in between them, smiling very wide. The women is still standing in the door frame, with her hands held together slightly above her heart as she smiles and watches the grandmother embrace her grandchildren. The woman has a hand on her shoulder, but whoever is touching her is unseen in the shot.

(0:17-0:30)The man holding the woman’s shoulder begins to walk into the house holding a tupperware container with a red lid. It has some kind of food in it. This is probably a gift for the grandmother. He moves past the woman and sets the book bag he was carrying on the floor. The woman continues to watch the grandmother embrace her grandchildren. The man and the woman appear to be the children’s parents. A message on the screen reads “The COVID-19 vaccines are here. Soon this day will be too.” The children are now looking at their grandmother and the 3 appear to be happily talking up a storm to each other. The man walks back into the door frame where the woman is standing as the video ends.

Fatherhood Involvement | Ad Council

0:01 In the first second of this advertisement we see a plate that looks like it is dinner time in the house. Also, it looks like they are at home and in the kitchen eating and it looks like they stopped eating because the fork and knife is on the plate. On the other hand it looks like the person who ate just wiped their mouth with it because the napkin looks like it was just used. Even in the ad the source of light is putting it on the food because they wanted to show us that someone was in the middle of eating. The director may be trying to portray that there is someone eating dinner and because you can tell by the lighting that it is night by the video. Looks like he is in the kitchen because he is sitting at the kitchen table in the first second of the ad. Also, the father could be a businessman by the attire he is wearing because he’s wearing a tie and a suite shirt.

Then looks back upstairs because the noise may be very loud causing him to look more than on time. His eyes shows that he is worried about what is happening upstairs because the noise may be too loud that’s why he is a concerned father. The director may be showing there are no parents who don’t care about their kids and that they are concerned when something is wrong. That’s why parents know when are going through times because they always know what’s going on.

0:01. The ad starts with a view of a computer screen that shows two pixalated skeletons who are embracing and kissing each other. The rest of the screen is black.

003. The shot changes to a crowd of people outdoors watching this monitor, pretty large in size. Some are taking pictures and recording the monitor. It is unclear why they are watching this, it seems to be a nice warm day, green on the plants around them. From the sides of the shot, it appears to be in an urban area.

0:04. We see a white man in a blue-ish shirt peering his head towards the monitor, either to get a better look or to try and figure out what he’s watching. A woman in a pink shirt watches next to him. Other people around him watch, their faces blurred out.

0:05. Shot goes back to the monitor and we see the skeletons have walked away from each other. The surrounding area remains the same.

0:06. A woman emerges from behind the screen and shows that she was one of the skeletons. She has blonde hair and a plaid shirt.

0:07. Another woman appears as the other skeleton on the other side of the screen. She has short brown hair.

0:08. The shot cuts back to the crowd. The focus is on the woman in the crowd with a pink shirt. She looks happily surprised to see the two women.

0:09- 0:10. Back onstage, the two women kiss again in front of a now completely black monitor.

0:11-0:12. Two skeletons on the monitor dancing. Zoom out to see the sun setting behind the monitor.

0:13. On one side, one skeleton appears as a blackwoman.

0:14. On the other side, an asian man appears. They embrace in front of the audience, the audience cheers.

0:16-0:20. Two smaller skeletons are on the screen, they reveal themselves as two young girls.

0:21. As the stand side by side, a message appears in white words on the black screen, “Love has no disability.

0:23. The man and woman stand together, the message says “love has no race.”

0:25. The two women stand together, the message says “love has no gender.” By now it is obvious that this ad is trying to show how all inclusive love is a thing that should be celabrated. Judging by all the audience reactions, it appears that they agree.

0:27-0:30. The camera is in front of the crowd. One message is on the screen. “Love has no labels.” A second message appears, “rethink bias at lovehasnolabels.com.”
