My Hypothesis- runnerd4

  1. Accidents in America
  2. There are many accidents every year.
  3. A large number of these accidents occur on major highways.
  4. Many of these accidents are caused by distractions.
  5. One constant distraction while driving us checking how fast you are going.
  6. Increasing the speed limit on major US highways, along with increasing difficulty of driver’s tests, would substantially decrease the number of accidents.

Increase the speed limit to WHAT?
Replace speed limit with NO SPEED LIMIT on major highways.
    Definition/Categorical Essay: “What’s a Major Highway?”
No speed limit on any 2-lanes (in the same direction) highway, In other words, 4-lane highway or divided highway 2 lanes each direction.
This will result in fewer accidents than ANYTHING ELSE WE COULD DO TO ALTER THE CURRENT SPEED LIMIT SITUATION.

    Counterargument:
    1. Accidents, when they occur, would be extremely bloody and deadly.
    2. (pretty iffy): Better drivers’ course needed to justify the no-limit rules.
(a): Take Learners’ Permit drivers onto a closed course where they drive in the rain at 120 mph to see if they qualify to drive like maniacs on the actual highway?
    3. Speed detectors at every mile marker automatically disable any vehicle traveling in excess of 30mph above the speed limit?

This was definitely helpful and it had me think about many different things that could go against my argument, but I do feel more confident about my topic now. The meeting definitely was not a chore, it was helpful and entertaining.
